Toronto skaters dominated the first Provincial Series meet in Cambridge (November 2nd & 3rd) by winning 5 of the 8 individual gold medals.

Toronto skaters seemed to be on a mission, showing great form and some aggressive skating to consistently take the top spot, and also winning the most medals at the meet with a total of 7.

Alex R led the way in the Men’s Open division, being the first to secure a gold medal. With Aidan P winning silver, Nils E coming 4th and Mike S coming 6th, our skaters totally dominated the Men’s Open division.

The club’s second gold came in the Men’s Open B division, when Hayden M secured maximum points winning all his races. Hayden looked awesome in achieving this and will likely move up in division at the next Provincial Series meet.

Not to be outdone, the club then secured three gold medals in Group 2, winning Divisions 3, 4 and 5. Marco F, recently moving to the sport from in-line, proved to be a force on his way to winning gold. Megan A, a recent convert from hockey, was not to be outdone, dominating in her division to secure gold. Finally, Mika S, skating with strong technique, and looking a lot like her brother, took the gold in her division!

The final medal, a bronze, was won by a fast improving Eren R.

While all Toronto skaters looked awesome, three deserve special mention. Juliette B, one of only two females skating in Group 2 Division 1, was the only female to skate under 50 seconds (500 m) at the meet (and she also skated a 2:37 1500 m). Benn M and Mila A, who were called up, looked like they belonged at this level.

Finally, quite a few achieved sub-club status including Juliette B (50 sec 500 m and 2:40 1500 m), Benn M (55 sec 500 m), Marco F (55 sec 500 m, 3:00 1500 m) and Megan A (3:00 1500 m).

All in all, an amazing achievement for the skaters and the club, and a huge testament to our coaching and programming initiatives in place. Well done!!!
